With the hectic pace and demands of modern life, many people feel stressed and over-worked. It often feels like there is just not enough time in the day to get everything done. Our stress and tiredness make us unhappy, impatient and frustrated. It can even affect our health. We are often so busy we feel there is no time to stop and meditate! But meditation actually gives you more time by making your mind calmer and more focused. A simple ten or fifteen minute breathing meditation as explained below can help you to overcome your stress and find some inner peace and balance.
HIKING THROUGH THE GREEN MOUNTAINS
Conveniently located in the heart of The Green Mountains we have local experts who will lead you on hikes, suitable for beginner to expert, allowing for breathtaking vistas, stunning waterfalls, a chance to breathe in the Vermont air and get back to what life really is; listening, looking, noticing the art of putting one foot in front of the other and simply taking in the view!
Flow Yoga is a beginning yoga class suitable for all age groups and ability levels. It has 3 main elements; asana, the physical practice of yoga postures; meditation, the practice of focusing the mind; and inquiry, the practice of self-transformation. These 3 elements encourage students to step into their full potential by discovering their passions, creativity, and developing the confidence to step into new and big possibilities in their lives. There will be a variety of flow classes offered from Baptiste HOT flow to something more gentle. It is always the goal to do your best – and the yoga will do the rest. All classes are beginner to advanced appropriate.
The main fitness goals of a pilates program include improved flexibility, muscle tone, body balance, spinal support, low back health, sports performance, and body-mind awareness. Mat Pilates is a series of exercises from designed specifically to be performed on a mat suitable for beginners to experts
BIKRAM YOGA @ BIKRAM YOGA MENDON
Is a beginning yoga class, suitable for all age groups and ability levels; challenging enough for the most practiced yogi and approachable enough for the pure novice. It is focused around 26 basic hatha yoga postures, set up like a chain reaction so that each posture warms you up for the next until the end of class you have touched on each and every muscle, ligament, tendon, internal organ and system in your body so YES you feel fantastic – NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED! during class you will never find yourself going into a posture unprepared or under warmed up, never find yourself over-stretching but moving to your bodies maximum for whatever that may be for that class. We will focus on the breath, and doing your best; the yoga will do the rest!
Bikram yoga is practiced in a warm room which will allow you to heal faster, stretch deeper, feel better without injury. You will sweat! Why the Heat you may ask? Yoga changes the construction of the body from the inside out, from bones to skin and from fingertips to toes. So before you change it, you have to heat it up to soften it, because a warm body is a flexible body. Then you can reshape the body any way you want. Hatha Yoga flushes away the waste products, the toxins of all the glands and organs of your body. It provides a natural irrigation of the body through the circulatory system, with the help of the respiratory system. It brings nourishments to every cell of your body so that each one can perform its function and keep your body healthy.
Bikram Yoga also employs heat to further that cleaning process: When you sweat, impurities are flushed out of the body through the skin. Practicing yoga not only increases our supplies of oxygen, but it also teaches us how to use that oxygen properly – we learn to control the breath through pranayama. We learn to breathe!
BOOT CAMP/STRENGTH TRAINING/TRX
In combination with our yoga programs, hiking schedules and all good things that come with being in Vermont you can see our timeline is set to be sure you are gaining strength while you are with us too. These programs are designed to build strength and fitness through a variety of intense group intervals. Boot Camp training often commences with dynamic stretching and followed by a wide variety of interval training, including lifting weights/objects, pulling rubber TRX straps ( suspension training) pushups/situps, and various types of strength training routines. Sessions usually finish with a little yoga stretching. These classes help you lose body fat, increase cardio efficiency, increase strength and are a TON OF FUN! We are lucky to have Beth Roberts of Killington Boot Camp be our team leader!
In addition to our weekly timeline of things to do – well there is SO MUCH other things to do and explore too. We have compiled a list of local vendors – our preferred favorites, the ones you should go to. On arrival we will share our private list – the best of the best in the area – to contact for everything from kayaking to paddle boarding, golfing, taking a day at the spa too!
Hi., my names Liz and I cant wait to meet you, share with you, laugh with you – feel light and understand the TRUE you!!! I moved to Vermont ten years ago from SF for what was supposed to be a six month stay.. and ten years later, HOW AWESOME here we are today….
With a few tools in my box (an avid entrepreneur, executive event designer & nationally celebrated living food chef, I was/am a health enthusiast with a background in natural medicine/detox centers, movement, collegiate & national athletics and well.. Yoga too (Senior Bikram Instructor 02′ ). I said ok.. this is where I am, and it looks like this is where the universe needs me to stay! I started with one, and then two – my immediate yoga community grew with BIKRAM YOGA MENDON but still I needed to reach more of you..
In a small town of 400, the other side of the universe from where I am from & without the amazing network I had in SF – health, wellness, fitness at my fingertips … I thought to myself, what do you do? – you create it and bring the community to you! And so, a community of YOU started small and grew and grew.
What better places to explore, to take time out and get back to the TRUE YOU? Vermont and Hawaii, right on, that’s what I said too!
What I am here to do, what do I want to share with you? An awake, healthy community to connect; share wellness, offer education, a platform where we can really find our TRUE selves be it through laughter, good food or a hike through these amazing woods. I want to MOVE YOU! We are a living, breathing, amazing, growing group each and every one of you. Over and over again I hear :”never good bye, just see you next time!” and well, it just does not get any better than this!
